Oct 2010- HMS Chosen to be Part of How Philly Moves!

Last March one of our  students at HMS,  along with hundreds of other dancers in the Philadelphia region, participated in the How Philly Moves photo shoot.  As part of  The City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program, How Philly Moves will culminate in a nearly 50,000 square foot mural across the facade of the Philadelphia International Airport’s parking garage installing in spring 2011.  These images will feature all different types of dancers in the city of Philadelphia, with the idea that the joy of dance is easy to share.

In early October we found out that among  hundreds of participants, our dancer was chosen to be one of the very few who will be  incorporated into the mural! We are very excited and proud to have our students represented in such an extraordinary piece of public art. As the photographer  JJ Tiziou describes,  ”It is about appreciating the beauty that is all around us but sometimes goes unnoticed. It is about seeing ourselves amidst these dancers and realizing that we fit right in.”

Please visit the How Philly Moves website to learn more about the project and to stay updated on its timeline.
